Quality Policy and Activities

Our goal is to deliver services that meet the needs and expectations of our members and to contribute to the development of commercial and economic life of our country.

ISO 9002 Quality Assurance System was put into effect in Izmir Chamber of Commerce in 1997  and was revised in January 2001 upon publication of ISO 9001:2000 version at the end of 2000.  The Chamber's activities was accredited according to ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System together with ISO 9001:2000 in November 2005 and  an application for  the  requirements of the new standards of the quality and environment system was initiated.

Nowadays, The Chamber is getting prepared for the ISO 9001:2008 accreditation and is planning to have an audit in a few months.

Our goal is to deliver services that meet the needs and expectations of our members and to contribute to the development of commercial and economic life of our country.

Everybody has the right to work and make contracts in any field he/she wishes. It is free to establish free enterprises. The state takes the necessary measures for the pirvate enterprises to be able to meet the requirements of the national economy and to function in security and determination.

DEFINITION OF THE MERCHANT AND THE MAIN PRINCIPLES

MERCHANT:

A merchant is a person who offers his knowledge, skill, experiences, entrepreneurial spirit and his goods and services to the community in a rational way and considers trust and honesty as his main principles in all of his relations and prioritizes the interests of the country over his own professional interests.

MAIN PRINCIPLES:

For the merchant the following principles can be stated:

HONESTY

The merchant
-    respects the customs and traditions,
-    honesty and ethics are the highest virtues for him,
-    enhances the esteem of his country and profession through his proper domestic and foreign commercial relations,
-    respects the freedom of conscience and never violates the rights of others,
-    safeguards the interests of his customers as if they were his own,
-    keeps his written and oral promises.

RELATIONS WITH THE STATE

-    respects the laws,
-    never gives bribes,
-    respects the unity and integrity of the state,
-    pays his taxes on time, does not evade taxes,
-    fulfills his responsibility towards the state.

RELATIONS WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

-    protects the environment,
-    contributes to the cultural development of his environment,
-    makes efforts to keep the environment clean,

BUSINESS RELATIONS

-    makes correct declarations, is transparent and never deceives his customers,
-    is open to new ideas and continuously encourages change,
-    is aware of the fact that trade is reciprocal and that his counterpart has also to have profits when he himself generaters profits.
-    prioritizes the concept of "human" and delivers his services accordingly,
-    avoids unfair competition and all kinds of swindling, never demands more than the real value of the goods he sells,
-    when safeguarding his interests he does not inflict any harm to others,
-    fulfills his responsibilities towards the consumers.

RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS CUSTOMERS

-    is kind and understanding towards his customers,
-    delivers his orders on time,
-    keeps his promises,
-    accepts his shortcomings and tries to overcome them,
-    does not promote his goods incorrectly and listens to complaints.

RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS HIS EMPLOYEES

-    pays salaries in a fair way,
-    considers the social rights of his employees,
-    attaches importance to training
-    does not make any racial, religious or gender discriminations.
