İzmir Chamber of Commerce continues its activities to promote Izmir to the whole world.

On 9 - 10 July 2009, the representatives of 9 local newspapers which are published in different regions of Germany were invited to İzmir through the Institute for European Affairs (INEA).

The German columnists and interviewers first visited the İzmir Chamber of Commerce. Afterwards they were welcomed by the Vice President of the Chamber Mr. Akın Kazançoğlu.

During this visit, the progress of the economic, social and cultural relations between the two countries and the promotion of İzmir to the wide crowds in Germany through the articles of the journalist visitors were emphasized.

After informing the visitors about, the German journalists directed questions about the effects of the economic crisis to Turkey and to İzmir.

Afterwards the committee visited the Governor of Izmir, Cahit Kıraç, where they exchanged ideas and they asked questions to the Governor about Izmir.
The German journalists visited the same day the Izmir Port, ESBAŞ ( The Aegean Free Zone Development & Operating Co. ) and ITOB and received information about the related institutions and their activities.
Finally, the delegation went to the Agora excavation work where they were informed about the history of İzmir. In the evening, a dinner was organized for the honor of the delegation and the leading businessmen and journalists came together.

At the second day of the meeting, the delegation of German journalists paid a visit to İzmir Development Agency where they watched a presentation about the activities of the agency and the methods that are used to encourage investments to the city. Afterwards, during the meeting with the İzmir Lord Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, information related to İzmir and to the city was transferred to the delegation.

After formal visits, the delegation completed the program through a visit to Ephesus and to the House of Virgin Mary.

The articles that will be written by the journalists of the delegation about their impressions of İzmir are expected to reach about 9.5 million readers in Germany.
